Summer learning Journey bonus activity.

the name of the animal is the Saimaa ringed seal and is one of the most endangered seals in the world.
these seals need lairs to protect there pups but since there aren't any snow banks they cant be protected and are forced to be born on ice, so to resolve this problem the wildlife team are building snow banks for the seals to build there lairs in so the pups are protected therefore increasing the population.

  1. Morena Jaimie,

Great stuff on completing another Summer Learning Journey activity!

Isn't it sad that there are only around 360 of the seals left. I hope that building the snow banks for the pups will help to repopulate the species. I think it's amazing that there are people out there doing incredible things like that to help save endangered animals.

What is something here in New Zealand that you think you could do to support an endangered species?

Until next time, happy blogging. :)
